Quantitative assessment of systolic and diastolic function in patients with systemic amyloidosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Systemic amyloidosis is a rare multisystem disease caused by extracellular accumulation of fibrillar proteins, leading to loss of normal tissue architecture and function. In clinical routine myocardial affection is assessed by late gadolinium enhancement. The aim of this study was to investigate whether patients with systemic amyloidosis (AL), both with and without cardiac affection and a healthy control group could be differentiated based on FT based systolic and diastolic strain parameters

LEFT VENTRICULAR DIASTOLIC ABNORMALITIES IN β-THALASSEMIA MAJOR WITH NORMAL SYSTOLIC FUNCTION
In order to identify left ventricular diastolic function in patients with betathalassemia major and normal systolic function by noninvasive M-mode and Doppler echocardiography, an analytic study was designed in a university hospital in Sari. We have studied 44 patients (23 men and 21 women), mean age 15.48±2.16 (range 12 to 20) and 43 age and sex matched control subjects. Peak flow velocit...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Cardiac involvement is frequent in systemic amyloidosis and is the most important determinant of the clinical outcome. The aims of this study were to assess the incidence and prognosis of cardiac amyloidosis and discuss the diagnostic issues related to cardiac amyloidosis. SUBJECTS AND METHODS We retrospectively studied all patients diagnosed with systemic amyloidosi...

Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...
متن کاملThe influence of Asthma on Right Ventricular Systolic and Diastolic Function in Children according to Tissue Doppler Echocardiography
Introduction:Asthma is the most common chronic inflammatory condition affecting the lower airways among children. Asthma may influence right ventricular (RV) function and patients may develop right ventricular hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale. The main objective of this study is to determine RV dysfunction in asymptomatic asthmatic children as detected by ti...
متن کاملLeft ventricular and atrial function in systemic light chains amyloidosis: an echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance comparison
Background Cardiac involvement in systemic light-chain amyloidosis (AL) is characterized by slightly decreased systolic left ventricular function (LV) function and typically a diastolic dysfunction including left atrial (LA) enlargement. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is often performed in AL to accurately assess chambers size and function. We aimed to compare features of LV systolic and dias...
